About
Mr. Manoj Kr. Deka is a highly experienced healthcare management professional with extensive expertise in hospital operations, project & business development, and strategic planning.
He holds a Master’s degree in Business Administration (MBA) with a specialization in Human Resource & Marketing and has also earned a second MBA in Quality Management, Production Planning, Control & Maintenance. Additionally, he has obtained Post-Graduate Diplomas in Hospital Administration and Journalism & Mass Communication.
Mr. Deka is an alumnus of IIM Shillong, where he completed the PGC in Advanced General Management. He has also attended IIM Ahmedabad, successfully completing the Executive Education Program (EEP) on Hospital Management. As a Lean Six Sigma Black Belt professional, he is well-versed in quality improvement methodologies and has been trained in NABH Accreditation standards and processes.
Mr. Deka began his career in 2002 with the GNRC Group as a Business Development Executive , where he worked until 2010, leading marketing, public relations, and branding efforts. During this time, he played a key role in initiatives such as the GNRC Medishop, GNRC Swasthya magazine and the GNRC Ashadeep card project, contributing to the hospital’s outreach and engagement strategies.
Following his tenure at GNRC, he joined Hayat Hospital, a 200-bed superspecialty facility, as General Manager. Over the next five years, he was responsible for hospital operations, business development strategies, branding, and resource mobilization.
He then moved to present Apollo Guwahati (International Hospital), where he served as General Manager – Business Development & Public Relations. In this role, he played a significant role in market positioning, branding, and business expansion.
In his next assignment, Mr. Deka joined Health City in 2016 (a unit of North East Health City Pvt. Ltd.) as the Project Head cum CFO, where he was instrumental in space programming, facility planning, and commissioning the project. He later took on the role of Chief Operating Officer (COO), overseeing hospital operations, business development, and quality enhancement initiatives.
After his first tenure at Health City, he moved to Ayursundra in 2020, where he served as CEO, leading the organization’s strategic growth and operational excellence.
Currently, Mr. Deka has rejoined Health City as Director - Project Development & COO, with the additional responsibility of OSD to the Chairman. In this capacity, he is working closely with the CMD to drive major expansion initiatives, including the establishment of a comprehensive Health University in Assam and the development of Highway Trauma & Emergency centres.
Over the years, Mr. Deka has received several prestigious awards for his contributions to the healthcare sector. In 2024, he was honored as one of the Most Iconic Healthcare Leaders in North East by EIILM-Kolkata. In 2022, CEO Insights recognized him as one of the Top 10 COVID-Time Leaders, a distinction awarded to exceptional IIM Ahmedabad alumni who have made significant contributions in their fields. His dedication to healthcare advocacy was acknowledged in 2021 when he received the Healthcare Excellence Award for Advocacy from News18 Network. In 2020, he was honoured with the Byatikram Hospital Administrator & Planner Award for his leadership in hospital administration and planning.
With a strong background in strategic business planning, Hospital project development & operations, accreditation, quality management, and PR cum branding, Mr. Deka continues to play a transformative role in healthcare expansion and innovation in Northeast India.
