Research Topic
- HPV Genotyping in pre-invasive and invasive cervical carcinoma patients of North East India. Duration: January 2011 to January 2013. Funding: DBT, Govt. of India. Objective: PCR based genotyping of cervical tissue using type specific primers to detect 18 different HPV strains.
- Promoter Hyper methylation Analysis of Multiple Tumor Suppressor Genes in pre-invasive and invasive cervical carcinoma patients of North East India. Duration: January 2011 to January 2013. Funding: DBT, Govt. of India. Objective: To determine methylation status of promoter region in 10 TSGs using methylation – specific PCR/MS-PCR.
- Cervical Screening of Women Population of Assam for High risk & Low-risk HPV by Hybrid Capture and Multiplex Nested PCR Assays.Submitted to SSUHS, Assam. Objectives: To screen around 500 asymptomatic women for HPV infection using Pap test and FDA approved Hybrid Capture II technology. Follow-up of positive cases for genotyping by PCR.
- Reduced Anemia prior to Cancer Treatment (RAPCT) – On going projects jointly conducted by Dr. B. Barooah Cancer Institute and Utriche, University Medical Centre, Rotterdam, Netherland.
- Single dose antibiotic therapy in cases of interval debulking in ovarian cancer – On going projects jointly conducted by Dr. B. Barooah Cancer Institute and Utriche, University Medical Centre, Rotterdam, Netherlands.
- Study of HPV prevalence in Normal Healthy Women of North East India. Duration: January 2014 to January 2015. Funding: ICMR, Govt. of India. Objective: To find out the mostly prevalent strains of HPV and suitable Vaccine for the population.
